The Challenge
When we first approached our client, they were unsure of implementing untested technology, especially with an overseas company. We faced communication and implementation challenges typical with sourcing activities, but we were prepared to face them. As with many companies we’ve worked with, the client had a vague concept of the final product and a tight schedule.

Defining the Project
Requirement analysis is a troubling area for many sourcing companies.Vague product definitions and inconsistent communication often results in missed deadlines and unsatisfied customers. Our focus on project analysis and requirements definition before the start of work enabled us to tighten the timeline of the project and reduce the impact of costly change requests as the project progressed.

Crossing the Globe
We took the initiative to increase communication across multiple companies based in various countries to deliver a superior product. By increasing communication pathways we reduced latency in the decision process and avoided common multi-team pitfalls arising from communication problems.

Offshore and Nearshore Support
Company resources located in Asia and Europe provided timely communication and reduced the length of feedback loops typical in sourcing activities. Additionally, we strategically planned client side meetings with technical and project management staff throughout the process to ensure the product we delivered was exactly what the client needed. On site training provided our client with the resources they needed to deploy the solution with virtually no issues.

Bottom Line Impact
Our team recommended a large 19” touch screen display to increase customer interactivity on vending machines. The custom solution delivered to our client provided new ways to engage with customers via an interactive user interface and multimedia advertisements. Additionally, an Accessibility feature remapped the user interface to provide greater accessibility for disabled customers.

By expanding and extending the capabilities of traditional vending machines, we were able to help our client increase the profitability of their devices.
